  • What is one thing that you've promised yourself you will never try again?

I have promised myself that I will never get drunk again.  I have kept that promise!  I'm a crying drunk - I drink, I get drunk, then I called my ex-boyfriend (back when I used to get drunk).  Poor guy.  I don't even remember the conversations.  I also used to say mean things to people and not remember doing it when I sobered up.  Booze and I were not good friends so I quit drinking.  I'm glad that I quit and wish I had never touched the stuff.  I decided to get acquainted with alcohol in college.  We hung out occasionally until I went away to college and then we got to be pretty good friends.  We invited our good friend "weed" to the party as well and then things really went south.  So the day after my 22nd birthday, I gave alcohol and weed up.  I have never been drunk since then and have only smoked weed once or twice since, but that was a long time ago.  I tried coke out of curiosity and wasn't impressed so it was only that once.

What are some of the funniest things you've said or done as a kid?

My mom would not let me go to the candy store across the street from my school.  Would not.  No way.  I thought she hated that candy store so I went to Circle K a block away to buy candy.  Why wouldn't she let me go to the candy store across the street?  Because she didn't want me crossing the street.  So instead, I went somewhere else that required three street crossings.  I thought it was the candy that was the problem so I was careful not to tell her that I was buying candy elsewhere (one of the few times that I succeeded in fooling her).  Now if she had told me why she didn't want me over there, I possibly wouldn't have.  No, I would have sent money with my friends when they went!

I was a terrible liar so I learned pretty quickly not to do it.  Instead, I would just not say anything about it.  If she asked me, I'd confess.  If she didn't ask, I didn't volunteer information.  Pity mothers of gifted children - they have no idea whatsoever is going on in that child's head!
